The International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS) recently released its statistics on procedures from 2014. Over 20 million procedures were performed in 2014; that’s as if every person in Australia had a tummy tuck or a facial filler injected or something. The United States was almost double the second place country, Brazil, in the numbers of procedures.
Here are some highlights from the ISAPS statistics.
Top five non-surgical procedures
1. Botulinum Toxin = 4,830,911
2. Hyaluronic Acid = 2,690,633
3. Hair Removal = 1,277,581
4. Chemical Peel = 493,043
5. Laser Skin Resurfacing = 480,271
Women accounted for 86.3% of the total, with more than 17 million procedures out of the total of over 20 million. Men had 2.5 million procedures, only 12.7% of the total. The most popular surgery for women? Breast augmentation. For men? Eyelid surgery.
